Support mission for organizations working in the sphere of social protection of people with disabilities

During the period of Sep 25-27, 2007 within the frames of the project took place the support mission for the organizations, working in the sphere of social protection of people with disabilities.  The Republic of Moldova was visited by Luk Zelderloo, Secretary General of European Association of Service Providers for persons with Disabilities, who was assisted by two local experts (Dan Virtan and  Natalia Buga).
The agenda of the mission included the workshop for the Alliance of organizations working for people with disabilities, for Association of students with disabilities „Gaudeamos”, association „Echo of Chernobyl”, etc.

As well several centers were visited: Center for rehabilitation and social integration of children with mintal disabilities C.R.I.S.”CULTUM”; social canteen in catholic cathedral from com. Stauceni; Rehabilitation Center for deaf children and other children at risk in Chisinau.

Special meetings were organized with Lucia Gavrilita, vise-minister of Social Protection, family and child; Fecilia Cretu, president of association ACASA; Nicolae Besliu, president of the social NGOs network and president of the association „Motivation” (member of EASPD).

During the separate consultation with the Alliance of NGOs active in the social protection of people with disabilities the following issues were discussed: possibility of joining of EASPD by the alliance, special services in EU, UN Convention on the rights of people with disabilities, EC Action plan, etc. As the result of consultation actors have outlined the necessity of searching for a partner (sister) organization in EASPD which will support and contribute to the development of the alliance in Moldova.
