Knowledge and perceptions of the population with respect to the NGOs

This Survey has been carried out in the framework of the Civil Society Strengthening project (EuropeAid 120/434/C/SV/MD) and took place in September 2006. The study had the goal to measure the knowledge and perceptions of the population over the NGOs. The opinion research for NGOs, undertaken during the inception phase of the project, gave answers about the organisational capacities of the NGOs (management, human recourses, training, finance etc) but also identify their understanding of their roles in the respective communities. Their relationship with the communities, the local administration, the donors, as well as other key players of the society was explored.

 
 

Survey of NGO's active in social sector in the Republic of Moldova

While we were planning the survey we often heard that “data on NGOs are already available”. We found out that there was really a variety of quantitative information about NGOs, but still, specific information about NGOs working in the social sector and engaged in social service delivery was missing. Most of the surveys carried out before this one had a different sample of respondents (NGO sector in general) and did not incorporate specific information with regards to the NGOs providing social services, or the resource centres
